The head line above brought my attention to a video on the NYT website. Before the video starts, the following text is shown:
Blogger Steve Coll has been reading every word of the 407-page stimulus bill. Here Coll and fellow journalist Michael Grabell discuss how flawed formulas for distributing money among states could undermine the bill’s purposes.
The video starts with Steve Coll explaining how “opaque” the bill is regarding the allocating of funds to US states: “It’s completely opaque. I’m sure the specialists understand it, but…”. Fellow journalist Michael Grabell mumbles something in reply, than asks: “Have you gotten to the transportation section yet?”. Steve Coll: “I haven’t yet, actually, no.”
So, Steve Coll “has been reading every word of the 407-page stimulus bill”, but he didn’t read the transportation section? Yeah, right. If he is sure that specialists understand the stimulus bill, then I would suggest to the NY Times to immediately get a specialist.
