Minimum wage – Myth and Measurement

The book by David Card and Alan Krueger might be called the standard book on minimum wages. Its findings are going against most economist’s (neo-classical) intuition: Increasing minimum wages does not seem to reduce employment. The book presents a detailed body of evidence to prove this point. If you really want to understand the economics of minimum wages, I recommend this book. It is a little sad that its findings have been overlooked so far in the debate we have in Germany these days.
