The Max-Planck-Gesellschaft in Cologne (Köln) has developed some interesting graphics on Germany’s change from a bank driven economy to a financial-market driven economy. On the upper graph you can see Germany’s 100 companies (those with ties to other companies in the list) in 1996, and then on the lower one six years later. 1996 resembles a spider web with 3 spiders Münchener Rück/Dresdner Bank, Deutsche Bank and Allianz. 2002 shows a different picture, ties between companies have been thinned out.
